A Flat Tire Is Easy to Change If You Know What You're Doing

A flat tire is never a fun experience. It can set you back, but it doesn't have to derail your entire day. If you know what to do then changing it is not really all that bad.

Start by parking your car, truck, or SUV on the flattest surface possible if you are able to move the vehicle. Then use the tire iron to break the lug nuts loose. This is an important step to remember to do before the vehicle is off the ground because you won't be able to do it if the wheel isn't touching the ground. Raise the vehicle up and remove the lug nuts completely. You can then slide the flat tire off of the vehicle and put the spare tire on. Replace the lug nuts and lower the vehicle back down to the ground. At this point you can finish up by torquing the lug nut back down tight.

If you have any other tire related questions, you can call or visit the service experts here at Westcott Mazda in National City, CA.
