It’s battle of the three-row crossover SUVs, and today we’re comparing the 2024 Mazda CX-90 with one of its most heated rivals, the 2024 Ford Explorer.

Which SUV has what it takes to make it into your driveway?

Let’s compare these two vehicles across just about every important category you might want to know about, from fuel efficiency to safety technologies to standard features and more.

We’ve all been there once or twice ─ our “maintenance required” light flashes on and off, and we think to ourselves “I’ve got time to get this done.” Then, the flashing light turns into a solid light, and a day turns to two, which turns to three.

Before you know it, a few weeks or even months have passed, and we’ve still yet to bring in our car for service…

For SUV shoppers looking for a capable and spacious vehicle somewhere around the $30,000 to $40,000 range that will get them through any road or weather conditions and support their active lifestyle, two contenders emerge for the 2024 model year: the Mazda CX-5 and the Subaru Outback.

While the Mazda CX-5 is a compact crossover SUV, and the Subaru Outback is a midsize crossover SUV, with the exception of cargo space with the rear seats folded flat, these two vehicles aren’t as different as you might think...

Five out of ten people surveyed think tires are tires. (Okay, we made that statistic up).

But, if you were to ask your friends and family members about the importance of tires, some would probably tell you that a dedicated set of summer or winter tires is a waste. Others will likely tell you that they make all the difference.

So, who’s right? The answer falls somewhere in the middle, as you’ll see.

Front Wheel Drive vs Rear Wheel Drive

• Front wheel drive is often the standard driveline of choice for small SUVs and compact cars like the Mazda CX-30 and MAZDA3, respectively.
• Most SUVs (but not most cars) often provide all wheel drive as an upgrade for enhanced performance during inclement weather and rough road conditions.

“Is this car reliable?” With popular car sites like Edmunds and KBB.com, not to mention consumer advocacy groups like Consumer Reports providing yearly reviews and reliability updates for each new vehicle release, many new and used car buyers are now beginning to ask this question before they sign the dotted line. When it comes to the Mazda CX-5, the answer to this question overall is a resounding yes! For the 2024 model alone, here are some stats you might like to know:

The truth is that a check engine light could be on for any number of reasons and is not always cause for immediate concern. That said, you should never just ignore it and act like nothing’s wrong.
